Having a large pitcher reduces your work – you can easily blend enough for more than one person at a time.  One thing you may want to know is that the instructions tell you not to fill the pitcher more than half full. The reason for this is because when you blend, the volume increases. So….a word from experience – if you do fill the blender more than halfway full, it is best to hold the cover on rather than walk away from the blender, otherwise you may be cleaning green smoothie off of your kitchen ceiling. The Best Blender Under 100 – My Recommendation:

The KitchenAid 5-Speed Blender was ranked high just about everywhere I looked.  Both owners and professionals liked this KitchenAid.    All say this blender consistently crushes ice and blends very well. With over 300 five star reviews on Amazon, this is truly a great blender.

The Classic Beehive Blender also comes highly recommended and has over 100 five star reviews on Amazon.   Reviewers state that this blender does an excellent job of pureeing fruit and crushing ice.  However, many found this to be a very loud blender.  One other negative mentioned was the lack of a pulse switch but this can be handled by turning the blender off and on.

While a bit cheaper than the others, the Hamilton Beach Wavestation Express Dispensing Blender also came out very high.  This blender has 90 five star reviews on Amazon.  While many love this blender, some are not happy with the smoothness of the smoothies.  With its dispenser,  this blender is  primarily meant for drinks.  So if you are looking to make other things, this may not be for you.  Also note that some said the dispenser was difficult to clean.

While all 3 are great choices, based on all the reviews I read, I highly recommend the KitchenAid 5-Speed Blender as the best blender under 100 dollars.

When I was looking for the Ninja Kitchen System 1100, I kept noticing 2 different models:  Model NJ602 and Model BL700.  What is the difference?

After speaking to a representative from the Ninja Company, I learned that there is very little difference between the 2 models.  Below I explain the difference.  For a complete review of the Ninja 1100 Kitchen System (the review fits either model), see my post on the Ninja 1100 Blender.

Ninja Blender 1100 – Model NJ602

This model is from the Ninja 1100 Series.  The buttons/numbers are slightly smaller on this model than on the BL700.

Also, to get the suction cups on the base to stick to the surface you are working on – you need to push down.  To release the suction cups, you need to slide the base forward or somehow lift the suction cups loose.

Ninja Blender 1100 – Model BL700

This model is from the Ninja 1200 Series.  These buttons/numbers are slightly larger.  It still has 1100 watts of power.

On this, there is a locking mechanism that pushes the suction cups down and then when you unlock it, the suction cups release.

The Ninja blender comes with a 72oz pitcher with lid and 6 blade assembly.

One unique feature of the Ninja Blender NJ600 XL is the locking lid and the fact that the  pitcher locks in the base as well.  If they are not locked in place, the blender will not turn on.

The pitcher, lid, and blade assembly is dishwasher safe. It is recommended to put the lid and blade assembly on the top rack.  If you don’t want to use the dishwasher, you can just rinse out, fill 3/4th  full of warm/hot water with a drop of soap, then hit the pulse button a couple times.

Pros: The Ninja Blender is a great blender for the price.  It is very easy to pour from and clean up after. The parts are easy to assemble and disassemble.  As one owner stated – it is great at making green smoothies, but not as good as a Blendtec or Vitamix.  For the price, the Ninja Blender gets the job done better than any other blender in this price range.
Cons:  With the Ninja Blender you cannot take the lid off to add extra ingredients while the blender is running.

Some have mentioned in various Ninja Blender reviews that they do not think it blends very smoothly. Others complain that it does not crush ice.  But many others say just the opposite.

It seems to me that those who are happy with this blender have read the directions well and are making sure they are using the machine properly and at its correct settings.  Many have stated that after adding more liquid and blending longer, their smoothies are very smooth.

For those who are comparing this to the Blendtec or the Vitamix, as one reviewer stated – these are completely different categories of blenders and you should not compare them.  Ninja blenders are top rated blenders and are better than any other blender in this price range.

The blade of the Ninja blender 1100 is stainless steel.  There is a 6 blade assembly for the 72 oz. container.  There is a 4 blade assembly for the 40 oz bowl.

The blade is designed for great  ice crushing, blending, pureeing, chopping and controlled processing.

The blades are extremely sharp and need to be handled with caution.  This is great for chopping food, but use caution when handling – you don’t want to cut your fingers!

Besides the 72 oz pitcher and the 40 oz. bowl with the blades for each, this also comes with a dough hook, a dough paddle and a whisk attachment.

The dough hook works in the 40 oz bowl to mix various doughs – like pizza dough, biscuits, breads and pretzel dough.

Use the dough paddle in the 40 oz bowl for lighter batters, egg mixtures, cookie dough, etc.

Whip up some delicious mousse, light meringues, healthy dressings and egg mixtures in the 72 oz. pitcher using the whisk attachment.

The great thing about all these parts is that they are all dishwasher safe.  The pitcher, bowl, blades, attachments and lids can go in the dishwasher!  How easy is that?  It is probably best to put the blades, attachments and lids on the top rack.

Cons:

This is not technically a juicer because it does leave the pulp in
Some do not like the design of the jar – because it is square, some food can get stuck in corners
The lids are not interchangeable

Some people find they have trouble blending greens and other items smooth enough.  The key is to add enough liquid – you need to do this with the more expensive blenders as well.  To make a great, green smoothie – blend the greens with water first and then add the other ingredients to blend them in.
